Abstract
The study highlighted the low proficiency levels of Filipino students in PISA 2024 and other assessments, particularly in the areas of critical thinking, problem-solving, and information literacy. To address these deficiencies, the paper proposed the creation of zines as a modern approach to writing academic papers, aiming to enhance creative thinking and increase students’ interest in the writing process. The zine, as an informal and self-published medium, offers an opportunity to incorporate higher-order thinking skills into educational activities.
