Revealing inner voices: lifeworld of English teachers in teaching listening strategies in the classroom

Abstract

Active listening plays a crucial role in enhancing English language learning. This study dived into the teachers strategies implementing active listening and their experiences in teaching English language. This study explored the role of active listening in enhancing English language teaching. The research was conducted among English language teachers at Madanding National High School in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat to understand how the teachers implemented active listening in the classroom scenario. Using a phenomenological research design, the study collected comprehensive data through interviews, questionnaires, and thematic data analysis. The findings revealed fourteen emergent themes: active listening implementation, engagement, strategies, technology integration, and students’ participation. These themes highlighted teachers’ dedication and innovativeness as they fulfilling the demands of 21st century learning. The study underscored the need for full support and interventions to help students’ comprehension and proficiency in English language. By understanding the teachers’ perspectives the organization must support the teachers’ demands for the achievement of active and life-long teaching and learning process.
