Abstract

Modern classrooms are the product of highly resurfacing education brought about by advanced technologies. Teachers and learners play crucial roles in making traditional classrooms to modern classrooms where 21st century skills were evident. This study was participated by 200 public school teachers who were randomly selected across the country. It used a sequential explanatory mixed method research through researcher-made survey questionnaire. Results revealed that teachers highly adhered to transformative teaching styles where active participation and provision of modernized instructional materials were highly evident. Also, teachers perceived that transformative teaching was essential in the development of learners’ retentive skills. Conclusively, the study showed that there was a significant relationship between transformative teaching styles and establishment of modern classrooms as perceived by teachers. Along with the perceptions of teachers on the use of transformative teaching styles and the provision of modern classroom, they also encountered critical challenges that hampered their effective and efficient establishment of modernized teaching and learning environment.
