Abstract

The study titled; From Ride to Rise: Investigating Wagon Transport in Mankayan; delves into the multifaceted contribution of wagon transport on the socio-economic and educational landscape of the remote municipality of Mankayan, Philippines. In regions characterized by challenging terrain and limited infrastructure, wagon-type vehicles have evolved from historical necessity to contemporary tools that facilitate economic activities and educational pursuits. This research employs quantitative approach to gather insights from the wagon owners and drivers of Mankayan. The investigation focuses on the frequency, patterns, and economic contributions of wagon transport usage, as well as its influence on residents access to educational opportunities. The findings reveal that wagon transport plays a vital role in bridging geographical barriers and enhancing local livelihoods. Through the transport of goods and passengers, these vehicles stimulate economic activities, income generation, and trade within the community. Additionally, wagon transport emerges as a catalyst for improving access to educational institutions, particularly in remote areas, thereby fostering educational aspirations among residents of all age groups. The study uncovers a symbiotic relationship between enhanced livelihoods and educational advancement facilitated by wagon transport. However, challenges related to safety concerns and infrastructure limitations also emerge, highlighting the need for strategic interventions. In sum, this research underscores the critical importance of wagon transport in shaping the socio-economic fabric and educational landscape of Mankayan. The insights gained contribute to academic discourse on rural transportation dynamics and offer practical implications for policy development aimed at bolstering transportation infrastructure, fostering economic growth.
