Abstract

This study aims to highlight the creation of an alternative teaching tool for literature instruction for Grade 9 students at Alawihao National High School. The need for creative and innovative approaches to teaching literature has paved the way for this research. This study seeks to provide solutions to challenges related to the study of e-learning materials that can aid in the teaching of literature in Grade 9. Its objectives include examining the platforms, design, and content of these e-learning materials, determining their level of importance as learning aids, and identifying methods to improve these educational tools. The study focuses on Grade 9 students at Alawihao National High School and employs a descriptive research method. According to Voxco (2021), this type of research describes the characteristics of a population. It gathers data that can be used to answer a broad range of “what,” “where,” and “how” questions concerning a specific population or group. This method is often used to develop hypotheses, which are then subjected to quantitative analysis. The study utilized this method in formulating hypotheses that helped address the research problem. Findings revealed that students frequently use mobile phones as their primary research tool. Their preferred platform is websites, and they mainly search for content related to literature in the Filipino subject. Most respondents stated that e-learning materials are beneficial to their studies. As a conclusion, the study confirmed the acceptance of the developed e-learning material in the form of a website. Therefore, it was proven that developing such tools is valuable as an outcome of the study. The researcher recommends further studies on the use of other e-learning materials as alternative teaching tools for literature instruction.
