Abstract

This study aimed to explore the influence of motivation on grade 5 students’ comprehensive assessment reading skills during Catch-Up Fridays at Dayap Elementary School, Calauan Sub-Office, Schools Divison of Laguna. The study utilized a descriptive- survey approach using the correlation technique. The research procedure was the gathering of the survey-questionnaire on students’ motivation on the third week of Catch-up Friday. The instrument for students’ motivation was adopted by Wiegfield & Guthrie, (1996). Frequency count, percentage, mean and standard deviation were used to describe the motivation and perception of the respondents. Perception on Students’ Motivation and Reading Comprehension Skills answering the questions and perception towards materials used were answered using mean, and standard deviation. Pearson Product- Moment Correlation Coefficient was also employed to determine the significant relationship among the students’ and reading comprehension skills of the respondents.
